Expanding High-Speed Internet Across Rural Indiana

Mainstream Fiber Networks is on a mission to bring fiber-optic internet to underserved rural communities across Indiana. With active projects in 10 counties and expansion plans targeting 25 more, they aim to become the largest privately owned ISP in the state.

They deliver to residential and commercial customers in hard-to-reach areas.

To support this growth, the team needed a mapping and routing solution that could integrate tightly with HubSpot, manage tens of thousands of serviceable addresses, and empower both marketing and direct sales teams in the field.

From Limited Tools to Real-Time Insights

Before Mapsly, the team experimented with other platforms but found them limiting. Either the feature sets didn’t support their workflow or the HubSpot integration wasn’t deep enough to build a seamless data experience.

James Yount, who joined Mainstream as CRM and integration lead, had previous experience with Mapsly. When he came on board, deploying Mapsly became a priority—replacing spreadsheets, disconnected tools, and limited visibility with a centralized, flexible, and visual platform.

Mapping the Data That Drives the Business

The foundation of Mainstream’s model is address-level data. They maintain a custom HubSpot object with 300,000+ serviceable addresses, synced from a separate internal system. Mapsly brings those addresses to life. With visual segmentation and color coding the team clearly sees which areas are Available, In Construction, or Unavailable and easily distinguish between residential, commercial, and multi-dwelling units.

Smarter Routing and Check-Ins for Door-to-Door Sales

Door knocking remains the most effective sales channel for Mainstream—outperforming online signups month after month. With Mapsly, reps now plan optimized daily routes, visualize target homes, and track interactions directly on the map.

But the real strength lies in how the team customized check-in workflows. Since both the direct sales and marketing teams knock doors (for different purposes), James created HubSpot properties and workflows that sync with Mapsly but log data differently depending on the team.

With each check-in, the system records:

  • User ID
  • Timestamp
  • Check-in type (Sales or Marketing)
  • Address ID

and other information. 

This makes it easy to pull reports in HubSpot showing individual performance, address coverage, and conversion metrics over time.

By syncing contacts, subscribers, and address objects into Mapsly, reps can zoom into a neighborhood and spot at a glance:

  • Which homes are already customers
  • Which ones have open quotes
  • Which neighbors just signed up

The system is currently used by 8 field reps across marketing and sales, with plans to expand as the business sales team ramps up. With longer sales cycles and fewer leads per town, routing efficiency is even more important for the business team.
